What happens on your first visit?
On your initial consultation, your Reflexologist will ask you about your medical history, health issues, lifestyle and diet.
They will then apply painless pressure to your feet using their thumb and forefinger to identify which areas of your body aren't functioning properly.
Sessions usually last for around 45 minutes and focus on the soles of your feet. To obtain the best results usually a course of five or six sessions is preferable to treat specific health conditions and you do not have to undress.
Scheduling follow-up sessions
The number of sessions varies and is determined by the client's health and reasons for seeking reflexology. But in general, results from reflexology are often subtle and are cumulative. Thus, you are more likely to see greater benefits from regular sessions (for example, once a week for six weeks) than if you had a session once every six months.
If you are dealing with a specific illness or condition, you may need to have more frequent sessions. A general recommendation might be to begin with a session every week for 6-8 weeks, followed by a "tune-up" every four weeks.
How does reflexology work alongside my GP/consultant’s treatment?
If you have pre-existing conditions, reflexology is a gentle and non-invasive treatment that you can safely enjoy alongside any conventional medical treatment. Reflexology should not be used in place of conventional medical care. Always consult a GP or other health professional for medical attention and advice.
